David
Powdrell, a Santa Barbara CPA, is an avid outdoorsman and adventurer, having
kayaked the entire 1,150 miles of California coastline. His previously published
book, Point Conception to Mexico, chronicles the adventures of kayaking the
344 mile stretch of coastline from Santa Barbara to the Mexican border with
his good surfing buddies. His wife, Valerie, introduced him to the world of
hiking and mountaineering during their courtship in 1979. Together they continue
to hike, kayak, and sip fine wine at sunset on the beaches of Santa Barbara.
Hugh
Margerum, is an artist and concrete artisan. As a founder of the Wine
Cask restaurant in Santa Barbara, he spent many years in the public eye until
2001, when he left to focus on
his artistic pursuits full-time. In his twenty-five years in Santa Barbara
he has hiked most of the trails of the front and back country. He and his wife
Carol, share a love for road trips, plants, gardening and the great outdoors.
